Tips for looking and sounding your best

Focal Points is an audio and video podcast.  Your episode will be indexed on all the main podcast channels as well as shared on Youtube and Social Media channels.  Here are some tips for you to look and sound your best.

#1 Find a quiet, well lit, non-cluttered space to record

#2 Use a microphone that will feature your voice best.  I use a Yeti Microphone or the mic that is a part of my Sony A7iii camera for all my podcasts and online appearances

We recommend the types of mics in the following order:

  • An external microphone (not your computer mic)
  • Wired Headphones
  • earbuds as a last resort, if you need to use these make sure your connections is strong without interference from other sources

#3 Come camera ready.  Whatever that means for you to present your best self.

I record the podcast on a platform called Riverside.  They make it things very easy.

Closer to your podcast date you will receive an email from Riverside giving you the link and information you need to join at our scheduled recording time.

The subject of the email will be:

You must use a CHROME Browser that is up to date in order to login and record.

The email will say that you can log in from your phone but I ask that you do not use your phone for our podcast as we want you to look and sound your very best.

In the form you filled out I asked you to provide a brief outline of what you wanted to talk about and also to tell me a couple questions that you want me to ask you about what you are sharing.
